Is your relationship or marriage feeling like a struggle? Are you experiencing pain or anguish when what you want to be feeling is love, connection, attraction, or aliveness?

We can get a long way in our own journey of self exploration through individual therapy, but there’s nothing like being in a relationship to kick up all our most difficult places, as well as our deepest love and vulnerability. It can hold the key for some of our most transformative learning and growth. Because we often get injured through relationship early on as children or young adults, the repair of these hurts can be accessed through the struggles of our adult relationships. The “misses” in our formative relationships and attachment to caregivers become wounds and defenses that we carry with us into our adult relationships. This is why, in turn, these intimate adult relationships give us tremendous opportunity for bringing old patterns to light and helping them heal into more mature, healthy ways of being ourselves and being connected to others.

In my couples work, I combine a focus on attachment patterns (e.g., Sue Johnson’s Emotionally Focused Therapy approach) with leading edge questions about relationship, marriage, and sexuality in our shifting cultural context. I particularly love Esther Perel‘s work and continue to participate in her trainings and workshops.

I look forward to guiding and collaborating with you in the world of dynamic, fruitful couples work.
